Don Buford, of Albuquerque, New Mexico is a Dollars Trilogy fan that started hand crafting replicas of Eastwood's Vest because he wasn't satisfied with any of the presently available options and thought he could do better.

Don used many high resolutions stills from the film and tried to get the closest looking match to the screen-used vest that he could (right down to the stitching that is absent on most other versions), using synthetic materials to keep costs down, while taking care to ensure they appeared to be made of worn, legitimate, sheepskin instead of cheap costume pieces.
